Sync Moodle and Gradescope

(These instructions are only for syncing your Moodle site and Gradescope--for adding assignments, click here.)

  1. Go to your Moodle site.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner, then Turn editing on.
  3. Scroll to the section where you want to add the link to Gradescope (probably the first section) and click +Add an activity or resource.
  4. Select External Tool, then click Add.
  5. Give it a name, then select Gradescope from the Preconfigured tool list. I would not adjust any of the other settings, then click Save and display.
  6. Follow the link to Gradescope. You should be presented with this linking option. Select A new Gradescope Course then Link Course.
  7. You'll be taken to the settings page. Pick the right semester, then decide if you want "Negative Scoring" or "Positive Scoring." (Basically, do you think in terms of "that's -4" or "that's a 6/10" -- up to you.) Then Update Course.
  8. On the menu on the left, click Roster.
  9. Then Sync Moodle Roster. This will give you the option to send a message to students or not.
  10. Now you have synced your Moodle roster and Gradescope! That means that grades from Gradescope will be imported directly into Moodle. See this page for setting up a homework assignment.
